After the NSX Edge VMs are deployed, create an NSX Edge cluster and add both of the NSX Edge VMs into the cluster. A cluster of NSX Edge nodes ensures that at least one NSX Edge is always available. An NSX Edge cluster is also required to use Tier-0 and Tier-1 gateways.
To add the two NSX Edge VMs in a cluster:
- In the NSX Manager UI, select System > Fabric > Nodes > Edge Clusters.
- Click ADD.
- In the Add Edge Cluster window, the following values are used:
- Name – NSX-Edge-Cluster
- Edge Cluster Profile – select nsx-default-edge-high-availability-profile
- Member Type – Edge Node
- In the Available column, select the two NSX Edge VMs and use the button to move them to the Selected column.
- Click Save to create the cluster and save all settings.
- To ensure NSX Edge VMs are added in the cluster successfully:
- In the NSX Manager UI, select System > Fabric > Nodes > Edge Transport Nodes
The following figure shows the NSX Edge VMs added in NSX Edge cluster.
