The (in-band) Management network for access to the vCenter Server was configured on vSwitch0 as previously shown. In this section, the OOB Management network on vSwitch1 is added to the services host configuration to communicate with the SFS switches.
- From the Inventory pane of the vSphere Client, select the services host, esx-svcs01.dell.lab in this example.
- In the right panel, select Configure > Networking > Virtual switches.
- Click ADD NETWORKING.
- Under Select connection type, select Physical Network Adapter.
- Click NEXT.
- Select New standard switch. Note: It is ok to leave the MTU (Bytes) at 1500 since jumbo frames are not required on the OOB management network.
- Click NEXT.
- From the Create a Standard Switch section, perform the following steps:
- Click +.
- Select the vmnic connected to the OOB management network on the services host. In this example, vmnic0 is selected.
- Click OK.
- Verify that the vmnic is listed under Active adapters, as shown in the following figure.
- Click NEXT > FINISH. The new vSwitch displays.
To create an OOB management port group, perform the following steps:
- Click ADD NETWORKING.
- From the Select connection type option, select Virtual Machine Port Group for a Standard Switch.
- Click NEXT.
- Click Select an existing standard switch, and then click BROWSE to go to the OOB Management vSwitch. In this example, vSwitch1 is selected.
- Click NEXT.
- On the Connection settings page, provide a Network label, such as OOB Management, and leave the VLAN ID set to None (0). The new port group is added to the vSwitch.
