Ensure that there are no conflicts between the ASNs, IP addresses, and VLANs that SFS reserves for internal use, and those used in your existing network environment. The values used by SFS depend on the domain ID configured on the SmartFabric.
This deployment uses two SmartFabric instances, one in Site 1 and one in Site 2. The domain IDs used in this example are 100 and 101. The default fabric settings for these two SFS domains are shown in the following table.
Site | Domain ID used | Leaf ASN | Spine ASN | BGP address range | VTEP address range | Client control VLAN | Client management VLAN |
1 | 100 | 65011 | 65012 | 172.16.0.0/16 | 172.30.0.0/16 | 3939 | 4091 |
2 | 101 | 65015 | 65016 | 172.18.0.0/16 | 172.32.0.0/16 | 3939 | 4091 |
SmartFabric reserves VLANs 4000 through 4094, which cannot be changed. If you need to use VLAN 3939, you may change the Client Control VLAN to an unused number in the range 1 through 3999. By default, server ports are untagged in the Client Management VLAN, 4091.
If any of the default fabric settings conflict with your environment, they may be changed in the SFS UI for the SmartFabric instance after the switches are placed in SmartFabric mode. See the Edit default fabric settings section of the Dell SmartFabric Services User Guide, Release 10.5.3 for instructions. Changes to the SFS default fabric settings will reboot the entire fabric and should be done as early as possible in the deployment.
