- In the Inventory pane of the vSphere Client, right-click the vCenter Server VM and select Migrate.
- For the migration type, select Change both compute resource and storage and then click NEXT.
- To select a compute resource, expand the data center and the stretched cluster to view the hosts.
- Select a host in either site.
Note: A host in the Preferred site is used in this example.
- Ensure there are no errors in the Compatibility box at the bottom, as shown.
- Click NEXT.
- On the Select storage page, do the following:
- Set the VM Storage Policy to vSAN Default Storage Policy.
- Select the vSAN datastore used by the cluster.
- Ensure there are no errors in the Compatibility box at the bottom, as shown.
- Click NEXT.
- On the Select networks page, change the Destination Network to the management network on the VDS, named DSwitch-Management Network in this example.
- Verify that there are no errors in the Compatibility box at the bottom of the window.
- Click NEXT.
- Select Schedule vMotion with high priority (recommended) and then click NEXT.
- On the Ready to complete page, review the settings.
- Click FINISH.
When migration is complete, the
Inventory view in the vSphere Client displays as shown in the figure below.
