Non-Volatile Memory Express (NVMe) over TCP is the latest protocol that enables hosts to connect to NVMe storage over a network. With SFSS, it provides a fibre channel-like experience at the cost of ethernet.
The NVMe family of specifications defines how host software communicates with nonvolatile memory across a PCI Express (PCIe) interface.
NVMe over Fabrics (NVMe-oF) extends the capabilities of NVMe by enabling NVMe commands to traverse multiple transports such as RDMA, TCP, FC and more. By using NVMe-oF, Hosts can access remote SAN storage, rather than being limited to local disks only.
