This section covers the other infrastructure switch models used in this deployment example.
Note: SFS does not run on Dell switches that are not listed on the support matrix or on third-party switches.
The Dell PowerSwitch N3248TE-ON is a 1U switch with 48x 1 GbE BASE-T ports, and 4x 10 GbE SFP+ ports. This guide uses one N3248TE-ON switch in each rack for out-of-band (OOB) management traffic.
Note: Other switches with 1 GbE BASE-T ports, such as the Dell PowerSwitch S3048-ON, may be used for OOB management traffic.
The Dell PowerSwitch S4148F-ON is a 1U switch with 48x 10 GbE SFP+ ports, 2x 40 GB QSFP+ ports, and 4x 100 GbE QSFP28 ports. The example in this guide uses a Dell PowerSwitch S4148F-ON at each site in the data center interconnect (DCI) role.
Other switches may be used as data center interconnects provided they support industry Layer 2 and Layer 3 standards including BGP, MTU settings of at least 9216 bytes, and support port speeds compatible with the switches they are connected to. These switches must also meet the stretched cluster latency requirements covered in the vSAN Planning and Deployment Guide.
