The vCenter server is deployed to the services host from the jump host. Ensure the target system, esx-svcs01, has a datastore large enough for the vCenter, the DNS/NTP server, and OMNI. See the Minimum requirements section of this guide for storage requirements on the ESXi services host.
- From the jump host, mount or extract the VMware vCenter Server appliance .iso file.
- Run the installer program for the operating system installed on your jump host. For example, \vcsa-ui-installer\win32\installer.exe.
- Click Install > NEXT.
- Review the terms of the license agreement, and, if you agree, check the box to accept, and then click NEXT.
- For the Deployment target, enter the IP address of the ESXi services host, 192.168.11.5 in this example, and the root credentials.
- Click NEXT.
- Enter a VM name for the vCenter server and set the root password.
- Click NEXT.
- Select a deployment size and storage size for your environment. Small with the Default storage size is selected for this example.
- Click NEXT.
- Select the datastore and then click NEXT.
- Enter the vCenter network settings. Note: Settings used in this example are shown in the figure below.
- Click NEXT.
- Review the Ready to complete stage 1 page. Note: Settings used in this example are shown in the figure below.
- If you are satisfied with the settings, click FINISH. When stage 1 is complete, the successful deployment screen displays.
- Click CONTINUE to start stage 2.
- On the Introduction screen, click NEXT. The vCenter Server Configuration screen displays.
- Enter the Time synchronization mode. For this example, Synchronize time with the NTP servers is selected.
- Enter the NTP server, ntp.dell.lab, if applicable.
- Change SSH access to Enabled. This is recommended for vCenter Server High Availability as indicated on the screen.
- Click NEXT.
- On the SSO Configuration screen, select Create a new SSO domain. The Single Sign-On domain name is set to vsphere.local in this example.
- Enter and confirm the Single Sign-on password and then click NEXT.
- If you want to join the VMware Customer Experience Improvement Program, select the Join VMware’s customer experience improvement program box and then click NEXT.
- Review the Ready to complete stage 2 page. The settings used in this example are shown in the following figure.
- If you approve the settings, click FINISH > OK. When stage 2 is complete, the successful setup screen displays.
