In a stretched cluster, the witness host contributes storage to the vSAN cluster which requires a VMkernel adapter with vSAN services enabled. This vSAN adapter and its connected vSwitch must also support jumbo frames, meaning the MTU must be set to 9000 bytes. This configuration provides the best performance and is required for the vSAN health checks to pass.
