To create an object backup repository in Veeam for backup up to directly, follow these steps:

1. In the Veeam management UI, in the navigation pane under Backup Infrastructure, right-click Backup Repository and choose Add backup repository.

2. Click Object Storage.

3. Click S3 Compatible.

4. Give the object storage repository a name, and then click Next.

5. Enter the IP address or FQDN name of the load balancer as the service point.

Because ECS is a cluster of nodes with each having its own IP address, you must front it with an IP load balancer if you want Veeam to work with all the ECS nodes.

6. Click Add to supply an ECS access key and secret key.

7. Click OK, and then click Next.
8. Ensure that you have a signed certificate set up for the load balancer.

If you are using a self-signed certificate, you are prompted to confirm its use.

9. At the next screen, you can select Browse to select the pre-created bucket created on the ECS system and create a folder within it for Veeam to use.
10. To create a folder, enter its name, then click OK.

11. On the Bucket page, select the number of days to make backups immutable.

Veeam will have detected that the selected bucket has object lock enabled and will allow you to make backups immutable for days. In this example, we select 1 day.

12. Click Apply to create the repository.
13. Click Finish.

The object storage repository has been created.

Veeam has now been configured with an object backup repository for the Dell ECS object storage.
