To configure PowerMax virtual networking and discovery, open Unisphere for PowerMax and complete the following steps.
- To enable NVMe/TCP on physical ports:
- Select the PowerMax system.
- Select Hardware from the left menu.
- Select the port that will be used for NVMe/TCP. In this example, port 4 on each node is used.
- Repeat these steps for each port.
- In the Hardware page, select Manage Protocol.
- In the Manage Protocol wizard, select the NVMe/TCP radio button and click Run Now.
A green checkmark appears in the NVMe/TCP column for the configured ports.
- To bring the ports online:
- Select the NVMe/TCP ports again and click Online.
- In the Set Port Online dialog box, click OK.The port status changes from OFF, to PendOn, to On.
- To open the NVMe/TCP configuration wizard:
- Expand System in the left menu.
- Select iSCSI + NVMe.
- Select the NVME tab.
- From the Actions menu on the right menu, click NVMe/TCP CONFIGURATION WIZARD.
- To configure the Endpoints, on the NVMe/TCP Endpoint page, select the Director and then complete the following fields: using the NVMe/TCP configuration wizard:
- Network ID Note: The Network ID is an internal identifier, but Dell recommends entering the VLAN ID value for better supportability.
TCP Port that hosts will connect on
Endpoint Name
- Network ID
- Click Next.
- On the IP Interface page, complete the following fields:
- IP Address
- Prefix Length
- VLAN ID
- For Jumbo frames, select the Use Jumbo Frames checkbox or enter a Max Trans Unit of 9000 and click Next.
- Choose one of the following options:
- If the CDC and NVMe/TCP endpoint are in the same subnet, select Auto Discovery of CDC IP Address.
If the CDC and NVMe/TCP endpoint are in different subnets, select Manual Configuration of CDC IP address. Enter the CDC IP address in the IP Address field and click Next. This example uses 172.18.22.250.
- On the Summary page, review the data and click Run Now.
- Rerun the NVMe/TCP Configuration Wizard for each Endpoint, ensuring the correct Director is selected from the dropdown list.
After the Endpoints are created, the total number are shown on the NVMe tab.
