Before proceeding with the logical build, including network details, hostnames, and port maps, gather information about:

• Configuration requirements
• Elevations
• Port maps

Configuration requirements

The following configuration requirements for all switches, the management server, and PowerFlex node components are the same for a standard PowerFlex build:

• Network subnets
• Hostnames 
• IP address

The MX7000 configuration requirements are different:

• Each MX7000 chassis requires an FQDN hostname and IP address used for OOB management.
• Each MX740c sled is configured similarly to a standard PowerEdge R640 compute node. Collect the following information:

• iDRAC hostname and IP address
• ESXi FQDN hostname, IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway
• For vMotion: IP address and subnet mask
• For flex-data1, flex-data2, flex-data3, and flex-data4: IP addresses and subnet masks
