Introduction

  • After the MX740c ESXi compute sleds have been configured, configure the R640 storage-only nodes and PowerFlex OS. This section provides the configuration details from the POC lab. 

    Before you begin:

    The storage-only PowerFlex integrated rack was  built with five Dell EMC PowerEdge servers. Complete the following steps before configuring the storage-only PowerFlex integrated rack aggregation switch:

    • Connect the storage-only PowerFlex integrated rack to the MX9116n FSE network through a 200 Gb link.
    • Connect the MX9116n FSE modules appropriately and ensure that the sleds are correctly configured.
    • Connect the MX9116n FSE modules to the customer core switches.
    • Enable the data VLANs (VLAN 152, 160, 168, and 176) on the MX9116n FSE modules.
    • Obtain the embedded operating system (CentOS 7.7) software.

    The logical configuration of the two-Layer PowerFlex storage-only nodes are no different from a standard build except VLAN traffic uses different bond interfaces:

    • bond0—flex-mgmt data1 and data3 on a single pair of network interfaces
    • bond1—data2 and data4 on a single pair of network interfaces
