The following figure shows a logical architecture of generic applications running on the PowerFlex HCI system with VMware vSphere hypervisor and integration with the DD Cloud Tier:
The DDVE is deployed on the PowerFlex HCI system running on-premises. The active tier metadata and data storage capacities are consumed from the PowerFlex storage. The Cloud Tier metadata storage capacity is consumed from the PowerFlex storage whereas data storage is consumed from the Amazon S3 object storage.
The generic application VMs running in the PowerFlex HCI system consume the PowerFlex volumes for storing its datafiles, log files, and archive files. The backup host VM is running with DD BoostFS configured and mounted the BoostFS file system for backing generic application files.
