This section describes the backup of an Oracle database running on an on-premises PowerFlex HCI system with VMware vSphere hypervisor using DDVE. The Oracle RMAN agent enables database server to communicate with DDVE to backup the Oracle database to the active tier managed by the PowerFlex system. Later, the Oracle database backups are moved from the active tier to the Cloud Tier and managed by the Amazon S3 object storage for long-term backup retention data.
