Data movement of Oracle database backup from Active tier to Cloud Tier

  • Once the Oracle database backup sets are stored in the active tier, perform the following steps to move these backup sets to the Cloud Tier configured using Amazon S3.

    1. To migrate the Oracle database backup sets to the cloud tier, we need to configure a file migration policy for DD storage file system called Mtree. Configure the age-threshold policy and verify the policy settings by running the following the commands:

    # data-movement policy set age-threshold <age_in_days> to-tier cloud cloud-unit <unitname> mtrees <mtreename>

     

    # data-movement policy show

    1. Run the following command to initiate the Oracle database backup and set the migration of the aged copies to the cloud tier:

    # data-movement start mtrees <mtreename>

    For example:

    sysadmin@ddve# data-movement start mtrees /data/col1/oracle_backup

    Data-movement started.

    Run "data-movement watch" to monitor progress.

    sysadmin@ddve#

    1. Run the following command to check the data movement progress:

    # data-movement watch

    1. Once the data movement of all the Oracle database backup sets to the Cloud Tier is complete, run the following command to check the status:

    # data-movement status

    1.  Run the following command to verify that each Oracle database backup set has moved to the Cloud Tier:

    # filesys report generate file-location path all

    For example:

    sysadmin@ddve# filesys report generate file-location path all
