The Tier-0 gateway interfaces with the physical network. It runs BGP and peers with the border leafs, Leaf1A and Leaf1B in this example.
Create the Tier-0 gateway
- In the NSX Manager web UI, select Networking > Tier-0 Gateways.
- Click ADD GATEWAY > Tier-0 and enter the following values:
- Tier-0 Gateway Name – Tier-0-01
- HA Mode – Active Active
- Edge Cluster – select nsx-edge-cluster01 from the drop-down menu.
- Click SAVE.
- Click YES to continue configuration.
- Expand INTERFACES and click Set.
- In the Set Interfaces window, click ADD INTERFACE.
- Configure the first interface per the first row in the following table.

- Repeat steps 5a through 5c above for the remaining interfaces using the values from the previous table. The Set Interfaces window appears as shown:
- Click CLOSE.
Configure BGP on the Tier-0 gateway
- On the Tier-0 Gateway configuration page, expand BGP.
- For this example, the Local AS is set to 65003. The remaining BGP settings are left at their defaults as shown in the following figure.
- Next to BGP Neighbors, click Set.
- In the Set BGP Neighbors window, click ADD BGP NEIGHBOR.
- Add the values for the first neighbor, Leaf1A in this example, per the first row in the following table. Leave the remaining items at their default settings. Note: In the Set BGP Neighbors window, expand TIMERS & PASSWORD to configure the values in the last three columns of the table.

- Repeat steps 3a through 3c above for the second neighbor, Leaf1B, using the second row in the previous table. The Set BGP Neighbors window appears as shown when the rows are expanded:Note: The BGP status may be down as shown until the leaf switches are configured in OMNI.
- Click CLOSE.
- On the Tier-0 Gateway configuration page, in the BGP section, click SAVE.
- On the Tier-0 Gateway configuration page, expand ROUTE REDISTRIBUTION and click Set.
- In the Set Route Redistribution window:
- Click ADD ROUTE REDISTRIBUTION.
- Name – enter a name, such as redistribute-all-routes.
- Click Set.
- In the window that opens, all sources are selected in this example. Click APPLY.
- Click ADD > APPLY to close the window.
- On the Tier-0 Gateway configuration page, click SAVE > CLOSE EDITING.
The Tier-0 Gateway page appears as shown:
