With the OMNI plug-in installed, port groups (VLANs) created in the vSphere Client are automatically propagated to the SmartFabric switches and associated with the device’s interfaces.
In this example, a port group named Application is created in the vSphere Client by performing the following steps.
- In the vSphere Client, select .
- In the left pane, right-click the vDS named vDS-01 and select .
- In the New Distributed Port Group window, set the Name to Application and click NEXT.
- Set VLAN type to VLAN, the VLAN ID to 30, and click NEXT.
- Click FINISH.
The port group created in the vSphere client is propagated to the SFS switches as a virtual network, and the node interfaces are automatically added to the virtual network. In this example, one ESXi node has been onboarded to the fabric as shown in the following figure.
