This section provides a list of the most common commands and their output for the examples used in this guide.
show version
Run the show version command to check the version of the operating system. Leaf and spine switches must be running a supported version of SmartFabric OS10, which is available in the Dell Digital Locker (account required).

show interface status
Run the show interface status | grep up
command to verify that required interfaces are up and that links are established at their appropriate speeds. In this example, ports 1/1/17:1–1/1/18:1 are server nodes, ports 1/1/49–1/1/52 are the VLTi, ports 1/1/55:1–1/1/56:1 are uplinks to the external network, and ports 1/1/53–1/1/54 are uplinks to the spines.

show port-channel summary
Run the show port-channel summary command to view port channel numbers, interfaces used, and status. Port channel 3 (number may vary) is the L2 uplink if configured. Port channels 96-97 (numbers may vary) are automatically created spine uplinks. The VLTi is automatically configured as a static LAG using port channel 1000. Ports 1/1/55:1 and 1/1/56:1 are port channel members, and(P)indicates each is up and active.

for one switch in the VLT pair is primary
, and its peer switch (not shown) is assigned the secondary
role. The VLTi Link Status
and VLT Peer Status
must both be up

Return to full switch mode
- To delete the existing switch configuration and go from SmartFabric mode back to Full Switch mode, run the following commands:
S5248F-Leaf1A# configure terminal S5248F-Leaf1A(config)# no smartfabric l3fabric Reboot to change the personality? [yes/no]:y
The switch reboots into Full Switch mode.
- To verify the mode, run the following command:
OS10# show switch-operating-mode Switch-Operating-Mode : Full Switch Mode
