All the tests were carried out using the YCSB standard benchmarking tool. YCSB is a java open-source specification and program suite that is developed by Yahoo. For more information about YCSB best practices, see Yahoo! Cloud Serving Benchmark (YCSB).
This solution uses six YCSB client VMs for running workloads on MongoDB shards. In each of the MongoDB shard VMs, a YCSB database is created. For varied use cases, different workload types with various parameters such as the number of threads, operation count, and record count were simulated to quantify the cluster performance by observing the total operations per second and the derived latency for that test configuration.
PowerFlex storage metrics like IOPS and latency are gathered from the system during the tests.
Details about the test configurations include:
Note: For more information about different workloads, see YCSB Core-Workloads.
Note: The performance varies based on the underlying hardware resources, storage types, and latency.
Note: Follow the instructions mentioned in Best Practices to tune the setup before starting the workload testing.
