The basic configuration steps to adjust the Restartable Backup feature with PowerScale are below. This feature is enabled by default when PowerScale is the NAS client and the backup uses either single-stream or multi-stream.

Basic configuration steps for the entire CommCell:

1. Commvault: Set or adjust the job Restartable options

CommCell Console > Home tab > Control Panel > Job Management (under Data)

Job Restarts tab

Select [Job Type – like “File System and Indexing Based (Data Protection)”]

Enable “Restartable” checkbox

Max Restarts = [adjust the default as needed]

Restart Interval (Mins) = [adjust the default as needed]

Click OK

Basic configuration steps for a specific manual backup job:

1. Note: This process will override the preceding Control Panel settings.

Commvault: Set or adjust the job Restartable options

From the CommCell Browser > Client Computers > [PowerScale cluster] > NAS > defaultBackupSet > right-click [Subclient] > Backup > Advanced button (near OK and Cancel buttons)

Job Retry tab

(1)          Enable “Enable Number of Retries” checkbox: [enter a value]

Click OK

Select the Backup Type

Select Immediate or Schedule

Click OK
