  • See Appendix D: VxRail network configuration for guidance on all the settings that must be collected to perform VxRail cluster automated initial build.

    • The external VxRail management network, which represents the overall management for VxRail, Cloud Foundation and NSX, is the native VLAN by default. Since the typical Cloud Foundation on VxRail deployment has more than one VxRail cluster, it is strongly advised to select a value other than the native VLAN.
    • VxRail Manager discovers the nodes to form a cluster through automatic discovery using the internal VxRail management network. This network is assigned VLAN is 3939 by default. Since the typical Cloud Foundation on VxRail deployment has more than one VxRail cluster per leaf switch pair, it is possible that an existing VxRail Manager will detect the new powered-on nodes in the rack on this same network. To avoid this, a new VLAN can be set for the second and subsequent VxRail clusters. Dell Technologies will change the internal management VLAN on each VxRail node to the recorded value before workload domain deployment.
    • The vSAN and vMotion VLANs should be unique for each VxRail cluster. Using a unique VLAN for vSAN and vMotion removes the possibility of conflicts when multiple VxRail clusters are sharing a set of switches.
