The following diagram shows the topology for the Advanced NPAR solution for MX platform.
The settings and configuration of Advanced NPAR the workflow includes the following steps.
In the server BIOS device level configuration, select Advanced NPAR and enable NParEPmode.
Ensure the Advanced NPAR is enabled by checking the status of Advanced NPAR in the server iDRAC, in VMware ESXi, and in the Port Information on the I/O Modules.
Create the uplink in SmartFabric mode from MX IOM to upstream switches.
Create and deploy server template.
Broadcom 57504 quad port 25 GbE mezzanine card
Starting with the OME-Modular 2.10.00, Advanced NPAR is supported. This section details the available options.
The BCOM 57504 quad port mezzanine card can support no partitions (advanced NPAR not enabled), 2 partitions, or 4 partitions (with NParEP mode enabled).
The number of partitions created on each port are always the same quantity. The following combinations are supported:
- No partitions: (1, 1, 1, 1)
- Advanced NPAR is disabled
- Number of partitions 8qty, two partitions per port:(2, 2, 2, 2)
- Advanced NPAR enabled
- Number of partitions 16qty, four partitions per port(4, 4, 4, 4)
- Advanced NPAR enabled, NParEP mode enabled
The following figure shows the NIC setting in the BIOS System Setup. To access the page in the BIOS, follow these steps:
Set the Advanced NPAR mode on one port and click
to apply the configuration.Also, if only two partitions are used per port, disable the NParEP Mode during the setup process. This setting is located directly below the Virtualization Mode setting.
