Configure the internal interfaces connected from the MX I/O Module to the MX compute sled parent NIC ports. The Dell SmartFabric OS10 CLI has two options to split the NIC parent port into sub-partitions.
- partition-2: 2 partitions per physical port
- partition-4: 4 partitions per physical port
For this example:
- The partition-4 option is selected to split NIC port into four partitions
- The MX760c compute sled is installed in MX Chassis-2 at slot-7
- MX9116n-2 port 1/1/13 has a breakout of 25g-8x and is connected to NIC port-2
- MX9116n-2 port 1/1/14 has a breakout of 25g-8x and is connected to NIC port-4
- MX9116n-1 port 1/71/7 has a breakout of 25g-8x and is connected to NIC port-1
- MX9116n-1 port 1/71/15 has a breakout of 25g-8x and is connected to NIC port-3
Configure a generic internal in-band MGMT VLAN, VLAN-1611. This is created for the configuration example as a switchport mode trunk on ports from IOMs to sled parent NIC ports.

Configure NIC port partitions for different networks, using different VLANs. As shown in the following configuration.
Note: The VLAN configuration used in the port partitions interfaces have not been detailed in the example in this section. Ensure all VLANs used are configured prior to configuring the interfaces.
In the following configuration, the partition interfaces are shown as 1/71/7/1, for example. The interface of1/71/7 is further segmented into /1, /2, /3, /4 partitions and is placed at the end of the interface. The interfaces are shown in the following format: Node/slot/port/partition.
