Configure stretched cluster

  • To configure the VxRail vSAN stretched cluster, do the following:
    1. In the vSphere Client, select the icon > Inventory.
    2. Select the VxRail cluster in the left pane.
    3. In the right pane, select Configure > vSAN > Fault Domains.
    4. Under Fault Domains, select CONFIGURE STRETCHED CLUSTER.
    5. Under Configure fault domains, move the hosts in Site 2 to the Secondary domain, as shown.

    6. Click NEXT.
    7. Select the witness host, as shown.

    8. Click NEXT.
    9. On the Claim disks for witness host page, select a disk for the cache tier and one or more disks for the capacity tier.

    10. Click NEXT.
    11. Review the settings and click FINISH.
    When the stretched cluster configuration is complete, the Fault Domains page appears as shown:

    After the stretched cluster is configured, verify the cluster health as shown in the Run Skyline Health tests section of the SmartFabric Services with Multisite vSAN Stretched Cluster Deployment Guide. Address any issues reported using the links provided by VMware in the test results.

    Also complete the final tasks shown in the VxRail with vSAN stretched cluster installation procedure on Dell Technologies SolVe Online such as creating VM/host groups, VM/host rules, and vSphere HA configuration.
