Before following the procedure to onboard servers, ensure that the following tasks have been completed:
- The networking fabric is built out using SFS. The switches in the multirack topology are in SmartFabric mode.
- The fabric connects to the external switches using L2 uplinks. The appropriate configuration has been completed on the external switches.
Note: This example uses L2 uplinks but L3 uplinks can also be used. See to the Configuring Uplinks section for more information.
- ESXi node 1 is onboarded using SFS UI.
- vCenter and OMNI are deployed on ESXi node 1.
- The associated networks are created using OMNI. See Configure General Purpose Networks Using OMNI for more information.
- Ensure that ESXi-02 has been configured with an IP address, prefix, gateway, hostname, and DNS server IP address.
- The DCUI for the ESXi node 2 server is configured as shown in the following table:
Table 12. ESXi node 2 server parameters Parameter Value Network adapters vmnic0, vmnic1 VLAN ID 1811 ESXi02 IP address gateway 172.18.11.102/24
