Alternate method to create general-purpose networks using port group in vDS
Note: When you create a general-purpose network, OMNI creates a VLAN network along with a VXLAN virtual network.
Note: For general-purpose networks, creating port-groups in vCenter will automatically create the associated general-purpose VLAN in OMNI and on the SmartFabric switches.
In the vSphere Client, select Menu > OpenManage Network Integration.
Note: You can alternatively access OMNI UI using the OMNI stand-alone page. Use the IP address of OMNI in a web browser and select LAUNCH OMNI FABRIC MANAGEMENT PORTAL.
In the left pane, select Service Instance.
In the right menu, select Network > Networks.
Expand General Purpose Networks and select the CREATEbutton to create the first network.
In the Create Layer 2 General purpose Network dialog box, enter the Network ID, Network Name, VLT, and a Description(optional) in the fields provided.
Select Create.
Repeat steps 4-6 to create other networks such as VM networks.
To apply the newly created network to an onboarded device, select Server Interface on the top menu.
Select the onboarded Server Interface IDto map the networks created.
Click EDIT NETWORKS.
In the dialog box, select the tagged and untagged networks. In this example, the newly created VxLAN network 1812 is selected.
Select EDIT.
Repeat steps 8 to 12 to edit the networks for other associated Server Interface IDs.
Validate the networks by connecting to the console of a leaf switch and running the show virtual-network command.
Note: In this example, interface 1/1/17:1 has been added to 1811-1815.
