The Queue Capacity use case starts with configuring a zone that marks an area of the camera image where a queuing situation is likely to occur. The algorithm computes the dwell time for any people who appear stationary in the scene to identify if queuing is occurring. This can be important for retail areas of the venue to ensure that the speed of service is sufficient, so fans do not miss significant parts of the event while waiting in a queue.
The Queue rule creates statistical data in the Ipsotek database. That data is used by the reporting engine that agents can use to monitor venue operations. In practice, the queue counting from a single camera cannot determine what happens during an event. An example of a stadium-wide dashboard that includes queue monitoring for multiple locations is shown in the following figure.
