The Adobe Premiere Pro tests were conducted with 12x virtual workstations. These workstations were g5.8xlarge EC2 instances. SmartConnect, an APEX File Storage feature, typically distributes client connections among storage nodes, but for this test, workstations were manually pointed at each node (2x workstations * 6x nodes).
Unique video content was created for each workstation. This content was ProRes422 HQ, UHD resolution at 30 frames per second. Each stream was approximately 100 MBps.
Even with these powerful virtual workstations, it is possible to overwhelm the workstation with simultaneous streams of video before overwhelming the APEX File Storage cluster. With that in mind, projects were constructed on each workstation with 8x simultaneous streams of video. With this number of streams, the individual workstations were not overwhelmed, and it was possible to tax the APEX File Storage cluster.
