This section provides an overview of the logical architecture of RHOSP 16.1 deployment on PowerFlex appliance.
The undercloud VM is the component that is used to deploy overcloud nodes. RHEL 8.2 is the base OS for all the RHOSP components, including the undercloud and overcloud nodes. In this solution two different profiles were deployed for overcloud nodes:
For this solution, the PowerFlex Gateway VM is the REST API gateway that communicates with MDM component in the PowerFlex cluster. This Gateway VM is used for deploying PowerFlex storage cluster on PowerFlex appliance. The resulting PowerFlex storage cluster consists of the MDM, SDS, and LIA components and a Storage-only (SDS) node. Cinder on the controller nodes communicates with the Gateway to map volumes to the compute nodes. VMs running on OpenStack compute nodes can access the mounted volumes directly.
