You completed the configuration on the OpenManage Enterprise, OpenManage Network Manager, and SCOM servers. Now run tests to ensure that the SNMP traps and SYSLOG messages are being forwarded to SCOM as SNMPv2 traps.

Configuring and testing alerts

Procedure

To configure the test from an SU node iDRAC:

1. Go to one of the SU node iDRAC consoles.

2. From the iDRAC Dashboard, go to Configuration > System Settings, and then expand Test Event.
3. To generate a critical test alert, enter CPU0002 as the message ID.

Procedure

To test the Azure Stack Hub switches:

1. Go to one of the switches.

2. Perform a task that would generate an SNMP trap like establishing a new SSH session or shutting down one of the redundant uplink interfaces.

Verifying that alerts display correctly

Verify your configuration and run the previously defined tests to ensure that they are set up correctly. The alerts should be visible in the OpenManage Enterprise and OpenManage Network Manager consoles and in the SCOM Alerts view.

The SCOM administrator can create alerts from the relevant SNMP events and can format the alerts to fit the organizational requirements.
