Abaqus is multiphysics Finite Element Analysis (FEA) software developed by the SIMULIA brand of Dassault Systèmes. It is commonly used in research, development, and manufacturing industries, across multiple engineering disciplines. Depending on the specific problem types, FEA codes might or might not scale well across multiple processor cores and servers. Implicit FEA problems often place large demands on memory and disk I/O subsystems. Abaqus contains several solver options, both implicit and explicit. Therefore, it is difficult to summarize the overall performance potential of Abaqus with a few benchmarks. Each Abaqus release distribution includes a set of benchmarks, both for the implicit solver (Sxx or Abaqus/Standard) and the explicit solver (Ex for Abqaus/Explicit). These benchmarks are useful for an indication of the relative performance potential for different systems; view them more qualitatively than quantitatively.
