OS10 uses two privileged user accounts:
- For day to day operations, the default administrative account is 'admin' for the user name, and 'admin' is the default password.
- For specific troubleshooting needs, Dell Technologies support may have you log in to the Linux shell. Note: The Linux shell account is
linuxadmin
and the default password islinuxadmin
.
Note: You cannot delete the default linuxadmin user name. The default admin user name can only be deleted if at least one OS10 user with the sysadmin role is configured.
For more information on OS10 privileged accounts, find the relevant version of the User Guide in the OME-M and OS10 compatibility and documentation table.
Setting the OS10 admin account password using OME-M
To configure the OS10 ‘admin’ account password, access the OME-M UI. Choose Devices > I/O Module > Select an IOM and choose Settings.
linuxadmin
password, instead of the 'admin' password, when using this page. If the MXG610s I/O module is selected, this procedure sets the admin account password for the Fabric OS running on the IOM.
Failure to set the password message
The following error message displays if the password requirements are not met.
Validate password configuration
SSH to the switch and log in using the new password to ensure that the new password has been set.
