For a VxRail vSAN stretched cluster deployment, a DNS server is required and an NTP server is recommended.
In this deployment example, a VM used for DNS and NTP services is deployed on esx-svcs01. A jump host is used as shown in the Configure a jump host chapter and the Deploy VM for DNS/NTP server section of the SmartFabric Services with Multisite vSAN Stretched Cluster Deployment Guide. It is configured with the DNS server records shown in Table 4.
Note: After VxRail is deployed, the DNS/NTP server VM should be moved off esx-svcs01 to a VxRail host in the stretched cluster for fault tolerance.
