Using the deployment configurations provided in Chapter 5, each of the nine tenant VMs can ping each other and the hosts on the external network, such as the DNS server.
Traceflow is the internal NSX Manager tool that verifies the network connectivity and the host TEP IP addresses. To verify the connectivity, use Traceflow to view detailed information about the path taken.
Same segment VMs
In this section, VMs that are on the same segment are validated for the network connectivity. To access and validate the VMs using Traceflow, perform the following steps:
- From the NSX Manager UI, click Plan and Troubleshoot > Traceflow.
- Select the Source and Destination options:
- Type - Select Virtual Machine
- Name - Select the Tenant VM for both the Source and Destination segments.Note: Verify that the Virtual Interface, IP Address, and MAC Address fields are configured as shown in the figure below.
- Click TRACE to verify the connectivity between the tenant VMs. Once the trace is complete, the following output displays.Note: The column on the right shows the host overlay network TEP addresses.
