You can scale down both PowerStore T and PowerStore X model clusters by removing individual appliances from the cluster. Removing an appliance from a cluster requires careful planning and consideration. Before starting this process, you can automatically or manually migrate storage resources from the appliance. You can manually delete any remaining storage resources before removing the appliance from the cluster. After you remove the appliance from the cluster, the appliance is reverted to the original factory settings.
When removing an appliance from the cluster, there are different steps that users need to be aware of depending on the model of the PowerStore appliance. Table 2 shows the high-level steps for removing a PowerStore T model appliance from the cluster. However, for the PowerStore X model appliance, users must migrate storage resources and virtual machines (VMs) to other appliances in the cluster as shown in Table 3.
