The following diagram shows the logical architecture of the Anthos cluster that is deployed on a two-layer PowerFlex cluster setup. In this example, there are four nodes that are dedicated for storage (SDS) and four more nodes dedicated for compute (SDC). The configuration can be scaled based on specific customer need. This architecture is suitable for environments where the storage and compute capacities are decoupled, such as high-performance applications, or for rapidly growing storage capacity requirements. This model decouples compute from storage allowing either of them to grow independently, as needed.
Note 1: For a detailed matrix of platform and storage validation regarding operating systems, Anthos version, and other details, see the Google Anthos Storage validation and Google Anthos Platform validation links.
Note 2: All support for CentOS is removed from the upcoming release of Anthos clusters on bare metal (December 2023 and subsequent releases) Google strongly recommends that you migrate to one of the other supported operating systems) from Anthos clusters on bare metal.
