SDP provides long-term data store with Tier 1 and Tier 2 storage for long-term retention at scale and efficiency. It also offers multiple interfaces to access the data stored on Pravega data store on SDP. This solution allows external access to the data using InfluxDB and TimescaleDB sink interfaces. SDP is used as a collaboration platform in this DVD for ISV applications from Cinterion, Cognex, and XMPro.
Telit deviceWISE uses the MQTT broker from SDP to ingest telemetry data and also leverages the SDP Grafana interface as a visualization dashboard. Cognex leverages image ingest with metadata for further analytics and digital twin application. XMPro applications display the images and telemetry data gathered from SDP to present the dashboard, make recommendations, and address several digital twin use cases. These use cases include anomaly detection on a production line, predictive maintenance, and production improvement, among other manufacturing use cases described in other chapters.
External applications can leverage appropriate APIs and queries that are commonly used for standard time-series databases for on-premise and Cloud-based analytics. They can also be used to extend the storage capacity that Pravega and SDP provide on the supported Dell VxRail and PowerEdge configuration, and to benefit from external data services such as backup and disaster recovery. Such operations are beyond the scope of this solutions and are not covered in this document.
