To add the new host to the existing VxRail cluster, in the vSphere client, perform the following steps:
- Select VxRail-Virtual-SAN-Cluster and then click the Configure tab.
- Under VxRail, select Hosts and then click Add. The Add VxRail Hosts window opens.
- On the Discovered Hosts page, select the newly discovered node. Ensure that is it marked Compatible. Note:
If the new node is not compatible, refer to the VxRail documentation.
- Click Next.
The vCenter User Credentials page opens.
- Enter the vCenter username and password as shown in the figure below.
- Click Next.
- On the NIC Configuration page, leave the default settings and click Next.
- On the Host Settings page, enter the hostname, IP address, and credentials for the new host.
- (Optional) On the Host Location page, enter the Rack Name and Rack Position. In this example, these fields are left blank.
- Click Next.
- On the Network Settings page, provide the vSAN and vMotion IP addresses for the host.
- Click Next.
- Review the settings on the Validate page.
- If no changes are needed, click VALIDATE. Validation may take about five minutes. A success message displays when the validation passes.
An option to put the added host into maintenance mode is provided. In this example, this option is kept in the default No setting.
- Click Finish. The process to add the host might take 10 to 15 minutes to complete. When complete, a success message displays on the Cluster Hostspage, and the new host is shown in the VxRail cluster in the left pane.
