In Veeam Backup and Replication, replication is a job-driven process. To perform replication, a replication job needs to be configured. A replication job defines: when, what, how and where to replicate. One replication job can be used to process one or more VMs.
- Login to the Veeam Backup and Replication console
- Click HOME
- Click Replication Job
- Click Virtual Machine (or right click the Jobs > Replication > Virtual machine)
- New Replication Job
- Name: Specify the name and description for this job and provide information on your DR site
- Virtual Machines: Select one or more VMs to replicate. Use exclusion settings to exclude specific VM and virtual disks from replication if any.
- Destination: Specify where replicas should be created in the DR site
- Host or cluster: Provide host IP address or choose from the list
- Resource Pool: Choose resource pool of vCenter
- VM folder: Choose VM folder if any
- Datastore: Pick datastore for the replicas or Click Pick Datastore for selected virtual disks
- Job Settings: Specify the backup repository located in the source site to host metadata in, replicate the suffix and retention policy and customize advanced job settings if required
- Data Transfer: Choose how VM data should be transferred to the target site.
- Source Proxy: Choose backup proxy servers for this job. For redundancy, it is recommended to select at least two proxies. If Automatic selection is selected, the job will automatically select the most suitable backup proxy from all available backup proxy servers
- Target Proxy: Similar to Source proxy
- Direct: Select this option for local and off-site replication over fast links
- Through built-in WAN accelerators: Select this option for off-site replication over slow links
- Gust Processing: Choose guest OS processing options available for running VMs
- Enable application-aware processing: Check this option which detects and prepares applications for consistent backup, performs transaction logs, and configures the OS to perform required application restore steps upon first boot
- Guest Interaction Proxy: Guest interaction proxies are used to offload guest processing from the backup server, click select if there is any preferred proxy, otherwise the most suitable proxy will be selected as an automatic selection
- Guest OS credentials: Choose from the list or add a new account
- Schedule: Specify the job scheduling options. If you do not set the schedule, the job will need to be controlled manually. Then, click Apply
Summary: Check box to run the job immediately and click Finish
