The Data Manager Appliance supports two stages for protecting PowerStore resources: local snapshot and backup to PowerProtect DD appliance.
Users can add a local snapshot stage in the protection policy to create local snapshots of PowerStore resources. The Storage Array data protection service will orchestrate the creation of local snapshots using the REST APIs. The snapshots will be created for the volumes and volume groups on PowerStore. Concurrent snapshots on primary and replica PowerStore arrays is supported. These local snapshots can be managed from Data Manager Appliance.
During the backup stage, the snapshot for the volume and volume group is created and sent to the PowerProtect DD appliance. The backup stage supports backing up the block volumes and volume groups from the primary PowerStore array and through the replica PowerStore array to the PowerProtect DD appliance.
You can also configure and perform replication and cloud tier operations.
Sends a replica of designated backups or retentions, along with the associated metadata, to a remote server for additional redundancy.
Moves the designated backups, retentions, or replicas from the local protection storage to an associated cloud unit for long-term storage or archival purposes.
A new target protection storage user with the role user is created as part of the configuration job for PowerStore block volume protection policies. The password for this user is managed by PowerProtect Data Manager Appliance and the name of this user is in the format user_taget storage name_random string. The password for this user is managed by Data Manager Appliance and is changed automatically after 60 days.
If this user is accidentally deleted, then you can re-create this user with the same username credentials. After re-creating the user, ensure that you change the password in the corresponding credentials object, and maintain the same password in the Data Manager Appliance UI.
