Dell engaged Cohasset Associates, an industry-leading records management consulting firm, for an independent and through technical assessment of the capabilities of the DD RL-C edition and compare it with the strict requirements set forth in SEC Rule 17a-4(f).
Cohasset Associates performed an extensive technical examination of the RL-C features available in PPDD and DDVE (both on-premises and in-cloud) and certified that RL-C meets the relevant requirements of SEC Rule 17a-4(f).
During the SEC required retention period a PPDD, DDVE (on-premises), or DDVE (on-cloud) system with the RL-C software:
- Maintains record files and record file metadata in non-rewriteable, non-erasable format for time-based retention periods, when a value retention expiration date is applied, and the record file is stored in a compliance enabled MTree
- Allows an Indefinite Retention Hold to be applied to an MTree and allows retention expiration dates to be extended for record files that must be kept longer than the current applied retention period. This includes legal hold for subpoenas, litigation, government investigations, external audits, and other similar circumstances.
- Prohibits deletion of a record file and its metadata until the retention period for the record file has expired
- Provides authorized users with the capacity and tools to search for a record file, list the file names, and download the record files and associated metadata attributes to produce a human readable log file in a usable electronic format.
- Stores a compliant redundant copy of each record file and provides for the recovery of the secured records from the duplicate copy.
