Like most storage platforms, DR configuration is critical to a PPDD system deployment. It is vital to keep a replica of all stored data in a separate system in a remote site to fully protect against disasters. Data Domain Replicator software provides simple, fast, and robust one base disaster recovery for an enterprise. It offers numerous replication types and policies, and support wide variety of topologies to meet the needs of various deployments.
For data sets with an RL configuration for a specific period, it is critical for users to maintain the replicated copy of both the audit log data and the retention attributes on the destination Data Domain system for proper DR configuration.
Collection replication (CRepl), MTree replication (MRepl), and Managed File Replication (MFR) replicate the locked or unlocked state of files stored on the Governance or Compliance enabled entries (see table below). This ensures that files that are locked on the source system remain locked after replication to the destination system. Only the source Data Domain system needs the RL-G license for the locked data to be replicated and stored in the local state on the destination system.
Replication Type | Support for DD Retention Lock replication | Support for replicating retention periods |
Collection Replication | Yes | Yes |
MTree Replication | Yes | Yes |
Managed File Replication | Yes | Yes |
