zCID is a utility packaged with Mainframe Enablers 10.1.0 that adds a layer of intelligence on Dell’s ChangeTracker utility. zCID will monitor and report PowerMax disk access rates for SMS Groups, CKD volumes and datasets. The zCID reports generated, customers can leverage to identify normal and abnormal rates of access to those PowerMax resources from the z/OS host. Last, customers can code zCID WARN statements, to generate a warning message if any atypical disk access rates occur.
To give customers the opportunity to create custom reports to analyze what zCID captures and monitors, MFE 10.1.0 delivers an extractor program called EXTREXTR. The extractor program produces a comma-separated value file on z/OS. The benefit customers get by extracting the data into a CSV file and exporting off z/OS is leveraging other tools to analyze access rates to PowerMax resources used on z/OS.
