VxRail nodes must be able to reach a correctly configured DNS server during and after VxRail deployment. The DNS server must include forward and reverse lookup entries for ESXi hosts, vCenter, and VxRail Manager.
Add forward and reverse lookup records on the DNS server using the hostnames and IP addresses used in your deployment. The DNS entries for the deployment example in this guide are listed in the following table.
Hostname | IP address | Description |
c1-vxrail-01.dell.lab | 172.18.11.101 | VxRail node |
c1-vxrail-02.dell.lab | 172.18.11.102 | VxRail node |
c1-vxrail-03.dell.lab | 172.18.11.103 | VxRail node |
c1-vxrail-04.dell.lab | 172.18.11.104 | VxRail node |
vcenter01.dell.lab | 172.18.11.62 | vCenter Server |
vxmgr01.dell.lab | 172.18.11.72 | VxRail Manager - 1st cluster |
omni.dell.lab | 172.18.11.56 | OMNI VM |
ntp.dell.lab | In L2 uplink example - 172.18.11.50 | NTP server |
In the L2 uplink example in this guide, the DNS server address is 172.18.11.50. In the L3 uplink example, the DNS server address is 172.19.11.50. The DNS and NTP services run on the same physical host in this example. This is optional.
