Create an NFS export in an MTree
An Mtree is a filesystem which provides the ability to perform data management such as access policies, snapshots, replication, and data retention. The following are the steps to create an NFS export in an Mtree.
For reference, the name of NFS export is NFS:
- Login to the DD System Manager with sysadmin credentials
- Click Data Management from the left pane of the dashboard
- Click Mtree
- Click CREATE
- Specify the Mtree Name. Mtree will be created at the location /data/col1/-
- Mtree with the name /data/col1/MtreeforVeeam is created.
- Under Protocols section, you observe NFS Exported is NO
- Click Create Export
- Specify the Export Name
- Verify the directory path is the same Mtree you created
- Click + to add clients and several options are available such as NFS version, permissions
- Click + to add Referrals (referrals apply only to NFSv4 enabled clients)
Click OK to create NFS export. To Verify the export, follow the instructions below:
- Click Protocols
- Click NFS
- Select Exports
- NFS export is created with name NFS and path /data/col1/MtreeforVeeam
- Repeat the steps to create another Mtree
Configure NFS share on Veeam Backup and Replication for DD series appliance as backup target
The following steps are used to configure Veeam Backup and Replication to use DD series appliance system as a backup target. The backups can be stored on an NFS export mounted from DD series appliance system to an intermediate Linux system:
- Login to Veeam Backup and Replication console
- Click BACKUP INFRASTRUCTURE
- Select Managed Servers
- Click Add Server (or right click Managed Servers and select Add Server)
- Select Linux
New Linux Server: Specify DNS name or IP address of linux server. The server must have SSH and Perl installed
- Name: Specify the name or IP address
- SSH connection: Select the ‘root’ credentials or can be added
- Summary: Verify the details and click Finish to complete the configuration
- Select Backup Repository
- Right click Backup Repository and select Add Backup Repository
- Select Network Attached Storage
- Select NFS Share and specify the details
- Name: Type in a name and description for this backup repository
- Share: Specify the folder to store backups in and gateway server to access NFS share through. Automatic gateway selection functionality requires NFS tools are installed on registered Linux Servers
- Repository: Specify the path to the NFS export on the Data Domain Mtree
- Mount Server: Choose the specific mount server you created
- Review: Verify the setting
- Apply: Apply the settings to complete the configuration
