In Veeam Backup and Replication, backup is a job-driven process. To backup VMs a backup job must be configured. The backup job defines how, where, and when to backup VM data. One job can process one or more VMs. Veeam Backup and Replication performs both full and incremental backups. During the first run, it creates a full VM backup and all subsequent job cycles create incremental backups.
