Anthos on bare metal allows you to install Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE) clusters on on-premises data centers without the need for a vSphere environment. Anthos also provides the ability to deploy VMs on bare metal nodes by using Kubevirt.
Anthos on bare metal works reliably and efficiently in multiple computing environments and without the need for virtual machines. For customers wanting increased compute efficiency, this option provides greater available CPU resources and cost optimization.
Four types of clusters are available with Anthos on bare metal:
- Admin: A cluster used to manage user clusters.
- User: A cluster used to run workloads.
- Hybrid: A single cluster for both admin and workloads that can also manage user clusters.
- Standalone: A single cluster that can administer itself, and that can also run workloads, but cannot create or manage other user clusters.
