Home > Data Protection > PowerProtect Data Manager > PowerProtect Data Manager: Microsoft Exchange Backup and Recovery > Centralized restore of Microsoft Exchange Server backups from PowerProtect Data Manager UI
Starting with PowerProtect Data Manager version 19.15, you can perform centralized restore of Microsoft Exchange Server data from the PowerProtect Data Manager UI when the data has been backed up through a protection policy.
You can restore a single database from the Microsoft Exchange Server host. You can restore the database to either the original Microsoft Exchange Server host or an alternate Microsoft Exchange Server host. You can restore and overwrite the original database, or you can restore the database to an alternate database on either the original host or an alternate host.
You can perform the following types of centralized restores of Microsoft Exchange Server backups, depending on the type of database assets:
You can perform a centralized restore of a full or synthetic full backup of a Microsoft Exchange Server stand-alone database in the PowerProtect Data Manager UI
Restore to Original database: Restores and overwrites the selected database.
Note: You can restore a stand-alone database to an original DAG database location.
Restore to alternate database: Restores the selected database to an alternate database on the original or different Microsoft Exchange Server.
If the preferred Microsoft Exchange Server does not appear in the list of available servers, you can click Discover the Exchange Server to select the preferred server and have the PowerProtect Data Manager discover all the database assets on that server host.
To restore to an alternate database, select the alternate database from the database list.
Note: You can restore a stand-alone database to an alternate DAG database.
On the Options page, you can select the following options.
You can perform a centralized restore of a full or synthetic full backup of a Microsoft Exchange Server database availability group (DAG) database in the PowerProtect Data Manager UI. The following procedure restores a single database.

Restore to Alternate: Restores the selected database to an alternate database on the original or different Microsoft Exchange Server.
If the preferred Microsoft Exchange Server does not appear in the list of available servers, you can click Discover the Exchange Server to select the preferred server and have the PowerProtect Data Manager discover all the database assets on that server host.
To restore to an alternate database, select the alternate database from the database list.
Note: You can restore a DAG database to an alternate stand-alone database.
On the Options page, you can select any the following options:
Starting with PowerProtect Data Manager version 19.16 and later, you can perform a centralized restore of the full or synthetic full backups of multiple Microsoft Exchange Server databases in the PowerProtect Data Manager UI.
The centralized restore of multiple databases includes the following limitations:
If you must restore older backup copies of multiple databases, then perform a single database restore of each older backup copy, one at a time.
If you must restore multiple databases and rename the databases, then perform a single database restore of each backup copy, one at a time.
Multiple databases are restored serially (one at a time).
A multi-database restore also supports partial success:
