There are multiple means of connecting two or more Dell switches to pass network traffic. The wanted connection type depends on what is to be achieved. Examples for connection types are covered below along with explanations of when each should be used. One or more physical cables are required between each switch. In the figures, blue boxes represent switches and lines between them represent cables. A circle around multiple lines shows that the cables may be joined to form a single logical connection, as depicted in the figure below.
All commands below may be entered at the CLI. The management network may be used to attach to each switch using Telnet, SSH, or the serial cable interface if a management network has not been configured. Most examples in this guide start the user in global configuration mode, such as the OS10(conf)# command prompt. To get to this prompt, enter the configure terminal command from the OS10# prompt.
Data communications between these switches can be achieved using the methods described in this chapter.
