Virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) is defined as the hosting of desktop environments on a central server. It is a form of desktop virtualization, as the specific desktop images run within virtual machines (VMs) and are delivered to end clients over a network. Those endpoints may be personal computers (PCs) or other devices, like tablets or thin client terminals.
The Grid Dynamics team tested the hypothesis that the new generation server is more powerful than previous versions in handling typical VDI workloads for typical user needs: Business and office apps, Business Data Analytics, Database server.
We installed the same environment and used the same VDI workload on both servers to compare the performance metrics.
